Sprinkle as much as desired onto carpet (2-3 tablespoons), wait 15-20 minutes (or a bit longer for a stronger smell) and then vacuum it up.  

ingredients: sodium bicarbonate, sodium carbonate, and fragrance 

Ensure children and pets are not allowed to ingest or significantly inhale prior to vacuuming.  External use only.  Do a small test patch to ensure no discoloring of material.
